Choosing the right partner for your child’s health can feel like navigating a minefield. Between the endless Google searches, the conflicting advice on social media, and the sheer weight of wanting "the best" for your little one, parents today are often operating in survival mode. At Thrive Pediatrics, we see you, we hear you, and we’ve been walking this road alongside you in Elgin and Geneva, IL, for years.
Because we believe so deeply in the relationship between a family and their holistic pediatrician, we have some important news to share about how we’re managing our growth to ensure that every child currently in our care receives the "excruciatingly important" attention they deserve.
Effective immediately, Thrive Pediatrics will be closing our practice to all new families through Summer 2027.
We know this might feel like an "unfair" hurdle for those who have been hoping to join our community, especially those expecting a new addition. This decision was not made lightly, but it is a necessary step to protect the quality of care that defines who we are.
Why We Are Pausing New Enrollments
If you’ve ever felt like just another number in a crowded waiting room, you know how frustrating: and honestly, scary: it can be when medical care feels rushed. Our mission has always been to provide a different kind of experience. We focus on the "whole child," blending modern scientific advances with natural practices like mindfulness, nutrition, and environmental wellness.
To do that effectively, a doctor needs time. They need time to listen to your concerns about your child’s sleep, their emotional hurdles, or that "hundredth time" they’ve sneezed this season. They need time to look at the big picture: mind, body, and spirit.
Currently, we have over 900 families on our waitlist. While we are incredibly humbled by the trust the Elgin and Geneva communities have placed in us, that number is a signal that demand has outpaced our ability to grow without compromising our standards. If we were to continue "hitting the road" at our current pace, we risk losing the very thing that makes Thrive Pediatrics special: the deep, compassionate, and unhurried connection we have with our patients.
No Exceptions for Newborn Care
One of the most difficult parts of this update is that it includes newborn care in Elgin, IL, and our Geneva location. Traditionally, we have tried to leave space for new babies joining our existing families, but due to the sheer volume of our current patient panel, we cannot accept any new families: even those with newborns: until 2027.
If you are a prospective parent looking for a pediatrician in Elgin, IL, we understand how challenging this news is. The search for a provider who aligns with your values regarding natural health and holistic wellness is already difficult enough. We truly wish we could open our doors to everyone today, but "survival mode" is no way to run a medical practice. We are choosing to focus on the families who have already entrusted us with their children’s lives to ensure they never feel like they are being rushed through a revolving door.
What This Means for Our Current Families
If you are already a member of the Thrive Pediatrics family: Nothing changes for you.
In fact, this decision is being made specifically for you. By pausing new enrollments, we are ensuring that:
- Your wait times for well-child visits remain reasonable.
- You still have access to same-day urgent care when your child isn't feeling their best.
- Our providers have the mental and emotional bandwidth to focus entirely on your child’s long-term wellness.
You are the heart of our practice, and our commitment to being your advocate and partner remains stronger than ever. We want to be there for every developmental milestone and every "game-changer" moment in your child’s growth.
Looking Toward the Future: Summer 2027
We are already planning for the road ahead. Our goal is to reopen our doors to new families in Summer 2027. Between now and then, we will be working hard to optimize our systems, support our staff, and potentially expand our capacity in a way that doesn't dilute the quality of our care.
A little preparation goes a long way, and we want to ensure that when we do welcome new families back, we can do so with the same warmth and excellence that earned us the "Best of the Fox" honors for multiple years.
A Reassuring Word to Our Neighbors
To the parents in Elgin and Geneva: We love being your neighborhood pediatricians. We love seeing your kids grow, thrive, and "coast through" their challenges with the right support. This pause is our way of making sure we can continue to be the best possible version of Thrive Pediatrics for years to come.
We are so grateful for your patience, your understanding, and your continued trust. We look forward to the day in 2027 when we can once again say "Welcome to the family" to the new faces in our community. Until then, we’ll be right here, focusing every ounce of our energy on the wonderful families we already serve.
